This Website is operated by Rizo IQ Media LLC, a Maryland limited liability company (“Rizo IQ Media,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), publisher of Rebuilding Sacred Intimacy.
Please read this page before using our materials. It applies to this Website, our articles, our emails, and every product we sell — including the Rebuilding Sacred Intimacy workbook and all companion resources.
This is education, not treatment
Rebuilding Sacred Intimacy publishes educational materials about betrayal trauma and recovery. Everything we produce is for general informational and educational purposes.
We are not providing therapy, counseling, psychotherapy, medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing we publish is a substitute for care from a licensed mental health professional, physician, or other qualified provider.
Reading our materials, completing our exercises, or corresponding with us does not create a therapist-client, counselor-client, physician-patient, or any other professional relationship between you and us.
We are not licensed therapists, and we do not hold ourselves out as such. If you need clinical care, please seek a qualified provider. For betrayal trauma specifically, you can find certified specialists through APSATS at apsats.org.
If you are in crisis
Our materials are not a crisis service. We cannot respond to emergencies, and email to us is not monitored for urgent situations.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
If you are having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, or you are in emotional crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7 in the United States).
If you are experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788.
When our materials are not appropriate
Our work assumes a particular situation: two partners, both aware of what happened, both choosing to work on repair. That is not everyone’s situation, and our materials are not right for every marriage.
Please do not use our materials as your path forward if:
- The betrayal is ongoing or undisclosed. These materials are built for repair after disclosure. Using them while deception continues can deepen harm to the betrayed partner rather than reduce it.
- There is domestic violence, physical abuse, sexual coercion, or a pattern of controlling behavior in your relationship. These situations require safety planning with trained advocates, not a couples workbook. Please contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
- You are in acute crisis. If you are unable to function day to day, please work with a licensed professional first. Our materials may be useful later.
- Your partner has not consented to this work. These exercises involve both partners. They should not be used to pressure, monitor, or manage someone who has not agreed to participate.
[KATHY REVIEW — this section carries the most clinical weight. Please confirm the criteria and the wording.]
About the somatic practices
Our materials include body-based (“somatic”) exercises — breathing practices, grounding techniques, and attention exercises intended to help regulate the nervous system.
These practices can surface strong emotion, distressing memories, or physical discomfort. That is a known response and one reason this work is often best done with professional support.
If an exercise brings up more than you can hold, stop. You are not doing it wrong. Set the material down and reach out to a licensed professional.
Do not attempt these practices while driving, operating machinery, or in any situation requiring your full attention. If you have a seizure disorder, a respiratory condition, cardiovascular disease, a history of dissociation, or any medical or psychiatric condition that could be affected by breathing exercises or focused attention practices, consult your physician or therapist before beginning.
About our frameworks and sources
Our materials are clinically informed — grounded in published work on trauma, attachment, and nervous system regulation, and shaped by our own experience. They are not clinical protocols, and they have not been validated in controlled trials.
Where we describe nervous system responses, we draw on polyvagal-informed approaches to understanding the body’s stress responses. This is a framework for making sense of experience, not settled neuroscience, and it remains an area of ongoing scientific discussion.
Where we cite research, we do our best to represent it accurately and to link to original sources. Science evolves, and our summaries are not a substitute for the underlying studies.
About results
We do not promise outcomes. We cannot guarantee that our materials will repair your marriage, resolve your symptoms, restore intimacy, or produce any particular result.
Recovery from betrayal trauma is individual. It depends on factors far outside anything a workbook can control — the circumstances of the betrayal, both partners’ willingness, the presence of other conditions, the support available to you, and time.
Any testimonials, reviews, or reader comments on this Website reflect individual experiences. They are not typical results and are not a promise of what you will experience. Where a reader received a free copy of our materials in exchange for their honest comments, we disclose that alongside the comment.
About our faith content
Rebuilding Sacred Intimacy integrates Christian faith into its approach, because that is our own framework and the one many of our readers share.
Our faith-based content is offered as a resource for reflection. It is not pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, or clinical guidance, and it is not a substitute for either professional care or the counsel of your own pastor or faith community.
We do not use scripture to pressure any reader toward a particular decision about their marriage. Whether to stay, separate, or divorce is yours alone to make.
Your decisions are your own
You are responsible for how you use our materials and for the decisions you make about your health, your relationship, and your life. Any reliance you place on our materials is at your own risk.
We strongly encourage you to work with a licensed therapist alongside these materials, particularly one trained in betrayal trauma.
Third-party content
We link to outside websites, organizations, and resources we believe may help. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. A link is not an endorsement of everything that organization publishes.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rizo IQ Media LLC is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of this Website or our materials.
This does not limit any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
